  26. About Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition
  27.  
  28. Available Fall 1998, the complete Behind the Magic collection
  29. offers a comprehensive, media rich guide to Star Wars both on 
  30. screen and behind the scenes.

  32. This special version focuses on the Vehicles section of Behind 
  33. the Magic.  The complete Behind the Magic collection will include 
  34. seven other equally expansive modules which will cover: 
  35. Characters (Main Characters, Aliens and Creatures, Groups and 
  36. Organizations); More Technology (Weapons and Devices); Behind the 
  37. Scenes (about the film makers, processes, and companies); Events 
  38. (complete timelines); Locations and Expanded Universe (toys,
  39. collectibles, and other tie-ins).  The complete collection will 
  40. also include a first look at the upcoming Star Wars: Episode I 
  41. motion picture as well as a Glossary section and many more 
  42. trivia questions.

  73. INSTALLING Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition
  74. -----------------------------------------------------
  75. Installation:
  76. 1. Close all open windows and quit all other applications.
  77. 2. Put the Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition disc in 
  78.    your CD-ROM Drive.
  79. 3. If Autoplay is enabled on your machine, the Installer should 
  80.    automatically appear. If the Installer does not open,
  81.    double-click the My Computer icon, then double-click 
  82.    on the CD-ROM icon in the window that opens. If the Installer
  83.    still does not open, double-click on the Behind_VSE.EXE file
  84.    to run the program. 
  85. 4. Click on the Install Behind the Magic: Vehicles button and 
  86.    follow the onscreen directions to install the program on your
  87.    system.

  89.  Behind the Magic needs to have DirectX 5.2 installed to run. 
  90.  During the installation of Behind the Magic, you will be prompted
  91.  to install DirectX 5.2 if it is not already installed on your 
  92.  system. If you are using Windows 98, do not install DirectX 
  93.  because it is integrated with the Operating System. 
  94.  
  95.  Launching:
  96.  Once installed, Behind the Magic can be launched by clicking on
  97.  the Start menu and choosing Programs\LucasArts\Behind the Magic
  98.  Vehicles\Behind the Magic Vehicles or by reinserting the disc in
  99.  your CD-ROM drive (if Autoplay is enabled).  In the Launcher,
  100.  click Start Star Wars: Behind the Magic Vehicles to launch the 
  101.  program.

  103.  If you have any problems installing or running the Behind the 
  104.  Magic: Vehicles Special Edition, please consult the 
  105.  Troubleshooting Guide (click on the "Readme and Troubleshooting"
  106.  button on the launcher, then on "Troubleshooting Guide" on the 
  107.  secondary launcher).

  110. Using Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition

  113. Keyboard Commands
  114. -----------------

  116.  ESC            Closes the window that is currently open
  117.             
  118.             During a Video or Audio Clip: Cancels the
  119.                         current clip being displayed or played.
  120.  
  121.  Left/Right Arrow    Scrolls through images in the Image 
  122.                         Gallery and Behind the Scenes images.

  125. Windows Volume
  126. --------------
  127.  On some machine configurations, the Windows desktop wave
  128.  volume may be set to full after exiting Behind the Magic: 
  129.  Vehicles Special Edition.

  132. Desktop Color Palette
  133. ---------------------
  134.  We recommend that you set your desktop to High Color (16 bit)
  135.  color.  When running Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition
  136.  with your desktop set to a color palette other than 16 bit, you 
  137.  may experience various problems while running the game.

  140. Task Switching (ALT-TAB)
  141. ------------------------
  142.  We recommend that you do not task switch while running Behind
  143.  the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition if your desktop palette is 
  144.  not set to 16 bit color.  At the time of release of this demo, 
  145.  we have seen problems while task-switching on various video cards
  146.  that can cause the demo to lock up or quit unexpectedly.

  149. CTRL-ESC
  150. --------
  151.  We recommend that you do not use CTRL-ESC while running the demo.

  154. Operating Systems Supported
  155. ---------------------------
  156.  To be able to run Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition, 
  157.  you must have Windows 95 as your operating system and your system
  158.  must be 100% DirectX compatible. This program is Windows 98
  159.  compatible, but upon release of this program, Windows 98 had just
  160.  released so we were unable to verify full compatibility with this
  161.  operating system and all hardware configurations. If you
  162.  experience any problems when running Behind the Magic: Vehicles
  163.  Special Edition in Windows 98, please check with the manufacturer
  164.  of your video card and sound card to assure that you have the
  165.  latest Windows 98 drivers for your computer hardware. MS-DOS,
  166.  Windows 3.1x, Windows NT 3.x, Windows NT 4.0 and OS/2 are not
  167.  supported. For more information on DirectX, see Section 4 of the
  168.  Troubleshooting Guide.
